February 11, 2009 -to Marcie

Here is a part of my email
...i found a place that sells vans skate shoes for 25 bucks and it makes me want to go ride. really bad. its kinda strange that they sell skate shoes here, there is no where to skate. the side walks are made out of brick that wouldn't work.
next week i get a new companion. that will be fun, new companions are always interesting because you don't know what they will be like.
some koreans told me the other day i look like pooh bear. kinda weird but i get it a surprising amount. my arnold impression is doing well, i'm also working on bullwinkle the moose, yogi bear, shawn connery, the grinch, bandito my imaginary mexican friend, yoda and chewbacca. you might ask your self when do i have time to do all these things. well in korea its against the culture for men to talk to girls on the street. unless they are related, our boyfriend and girlfriend. so korean missionaries only can talk to dudes, and when there is a lack of dudes on the street i feel it is my civil duty to entertain my comp. or else he will go crazy. well thats enough worthless info for you this week...
hope all is well

hey my week went well, i am getting used to my area. i didn't eat anything to strange last week. I had some really good kimchi soup, its like the most eaten food in korea and i've only had it a few times but the stuff i had the other day was the best. did i ever tell you that they eat alot of tofu here? its one of the weirdest textures ever but doesn't really have a taste. i am getting used to the area. i need size 44 shoes, its really cold right now. yesterday one of the elders in my district gave me a hug while i was putting on my big coat, turns out that you can button up my coat with me and another person in it. its a little big. today we are going to a place call osan to go find some souvenoirs. not much going on, i forgot to tell you on january 4th, the sunday after i got transfered my second baptism took place, sadly i wasn't able to attend it, but i still count it as one of my converts because i left only a few days before. pretty cool. Thats awesome that landon is getting baptized. its weird he's that old. well i gotta run. don't send valentines for the kids, theres to many of them, and they don't celebrate that here, i'm pretty sure.
well i gotta go

hey fam-
things here are going great, elder dryden is a little different than elder hirsche but i think thats cause he's from preston haha, just kidding he's a good guy too, my new area is alot bigger than my last and things aren't as nice as my last area but i like this area, its more relaxing not as crowded. my apartment is ok, its exactly what you would imagine a missionary apartment to be i'm sure ty, and dust lived in similiar places. the ward here is really cool its a bunch of families so its fun, the stake patriarch is in our ward, he was baptized the year dad was born. He's got the coolest voice i've ever heard and he is what i thought koreans would be like. this week i got a bunch of christmas cards haha that was festive.yesterday we had a zone meeting and then we ate at this place called aja aja's and ate some really good food. i love restaurants here, the price is usually under $4.50 and you get tons of food. other than that nothing much is going on, i'm just trying to figure out the area, and learn korean.oh and raw octopus isn't to terrible chewy its worse cooked, and squid tentacles are the chewiest i think.

December in Korea 2008

December 2008

In December Court had his first baptism. Her name is Pat Hyde and her husband Kevin went to Logan High School with my mom. What a small world. I guess she is a really sweet lady and the baptism was great. See some pictures Ashley sent me in the above slideshow.

The other pictures are of Christmas Day at the Grandy's house. Enjoy!
